Robinson Lumber Company and its Brazilian subsidiary, Robco Madeiras will distribute Christmas Gift Baskets this December to families along the Amazon River near
Breves, Brazil.

This is the third year that families along the Amazon River near Breves will receive gift baskets with toys, food and medicines, donated by Robinson Lumber and Robco Madeiras, their employees, friends and supporters, led by the tireless efforts of Norma Deffren.

In 2006 they distributed 116 food baskets in Breves and 87 in Melgaco, reaching a total of 200 families on the River.

Food baskets consist of several pounds each of items such as beans, rice, flour, cooking oil, crackers, salt, pasta, coffee, sugar, powdered milk, and other basic need items.

The women, children, and elderly also needed attention to their health and education in addition of the need for basic foods.

The 2007 mission was expanded to include educational orientation, basic hygiene information, health care, as well as the distribution of toys, clothes, books, shoes, and food items.

The distribution will be carried out this December, beginning in Breves, then extending to Melgaco, then the Quaquajo River, the Maparizinho River, the Jangui Rriver, and the Mapari River (all part of the Amazon River Basin).
